How to choose the correct lamp shade?  The easiest way is to simply bring in the lamp and your old shade and ask us to help you choose the best shade for your lamp and lighting situation.  There are a few simple "rules of thumb" that prive guide lines (just remember that it is ok to color outside the lines...sometimes).  A lamp shade should complement the lamp.  Usually this means that the height of the shade is 60% to 80% of the height of the body of the lamp (not including the socket and the harp). The "optical mass" of the shade should be equal to or less than the "optical mass" of the lamp.  Simply stated the "shade should not be over (or under) whelm when viewed with the lamp.  Similar shapes complement a lamp.  A round shade for a round lamp, a square shade for a square lamp.  Hardback shades are generally more informal than silk shades (and less expensive)   Too big a shade looks like a had and too small a shade is just too small.

Bring your lamp.  Look at the shade selection.  Ask for advice. Try out some shades.  have fun and go home with a shade that will work for your lamp, your room and you.  We can help and we actually enjoy the process to making your lamp (and you) happy.
